GHD is seeking a part-time work as needed Technical Director to join our Strategic Communications, Engagement and Communities team in our San Francisco office. In this role, you will provide GHD with technical expertise, counsel and support in the areas of client relationships, project management and strategic communications. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, planning, or social science
• 30 years of progressive leadership experience, within the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC), infrastructure or related industries.
• 10+ years managing staff, setting business goals and developing strategic business plans.
• Business relationships with San Francisco Bay Area organizations, businesses and public agencies.
• Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft suite) and social networks
• Self-starter and strong organizational skills: able to lead through ambiguity, manage budgets/timelines, coordinate across disciplines, deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
• Excellent storytelling ability and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
• Collaborative mindset, comfortable working with both creative teams and technical professionals (engineers, planners, architects) and translating technical content for public audiences
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with project staff and partners
• Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment
• California Class C driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with community engagement software/platforms for meetings are a plus (e.g., virtual conferencing, virtual whiteboards, and map-based feedback)

Responsibilities

• Support key projects and pursuits in Northern California and across the U.S.
• Develop and support client relationships
• Assist staff with developing proposal content to secure new projects
• Develop your own capabilities by taking assessments and creating your own professional development plans; participating in both formal and informal training and coaching; and obtain or maintain relevant professional accreditation.
• Maintain an understanding of industry trends and best practices through ongoing education including conferences and reading specialist media.
• Help colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using GHD’s customer relationship management and project management systems.
