About The Position

The CDC Foundation seeks a full-time Technical Advisor for Maternal and Infant Health to support the environmental scan and strategic planning activities for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Levels of Care Assessment Tool (LOCATe)® tool. This role will focus on assessing the current state of LOCATe® implementation across jurisdictions, identifying opportunities and threats to sustainability, and informing future directions for risk-appropriate care (RAC) activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication and strategic thinking skills, qualitative research experience, and the ability to synthesize findings into actionable recommendations. Atlanta-based candidates are preferred. Remote work may be considered, though in-person team meetings in Atlanta, GA may be required. Relocation expenses are not provided. The starting salary range is $80,000-$95,000 and will be based on experience and qualifications. The CDC Foundation offers an attractive benefits package. This is a full-time grant funded position through September 30, 2026.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in public health, health administration, or other related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of public health or related professional experience required.
  • Experience implementing or supporting programs related to maternal and child health, and/or risk-appropriate care initiatives
  • Strong analytical and qualitative research skills to conduct environmental scans, assess jurisdictional needs, and identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ability to critically review program materials and reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with project goals.
  • Proficiency in needs assessment methodologies, with the ability to translate findings into actionable insights for program improvement and sustainability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of synthesizing complex information into clear, comprehensive reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with experience engaging diverse partners, facilitating stakeholder sessions, and working alongside federal agencies (e.g., CDC).
  • Superior organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and the capacity to act independently while tracking, summarizing, and reporting activities.
  • Detail-oriented review skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback on project deliverables and contribute effectively as a team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with federal or state-level health programs, particularly perinatal quality improvement (including CDC LOCATe®), preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in developing strategic reports, toolkits, guidance documents, and evidence-based recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of activities to assess the current state and future directions for LOCATe®.
  • Review completed jurisdictional LOCATe® implementations to evaluate effectiveness and identify lessons learned.
  • Analyze the role of LOCATe® in jurisdictional RAC activities and assess alignment with broader program goals.
  • Identify potential threats to LOCATe® sustainability and propose strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Conduct environmental scans, review program materials and reports, and assess jurisdictional needs.
  • Synthesize findings into clear, comprehensive reports to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the CDC and other partners to ensure program alignment, compliance, and ongoing support.
  • Develop and produce reports and recommendations that guide program improvements and sustainability efforts.
  • Review and provide written feedback on project deliverables to maintain quality standards and enhance outcomes.
  • Support the development of written materials that may include reports, presentations, manuscripts, and other outputs.
  • Represent the CDC Foundation and the project team at meetings and partnership events as needed.
  • Participate in and/or lead special projects and other duties as assigned.
