About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Project Engineer to lead field inspections, oversee reporting, and ensure compliance with NYSDOT standards. This role is ideal for a civil engineer with strong experience in bridge inspection, structural analysis, and team leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in bridge engineering (inspection, design, construction, or related)
- Experience performing bridge inspections and writing technical reports
- Strong background in structural analysis and load rating calculations
- New York State PE License (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Completion of one of the following: FHWA/NHI Safety Inspection Course (#130055 or #130056) NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Certification
- Valid driver’s license
Nice To Haves
- Experience leading or managing bridge inspection teams
- Familiarity with NYSDOT specifications and bridge inspection standards
- Experience developing repair scopes or construction documentation
- Proficiency with bridge inspection or structural engineering software
- Background working on transportation or infrastructure projects
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate bridge inspection teams, equipment, and schedules
- Perform field inspections, including measurements, condition assessments, and documentation
- Prepare detailed technical inspection reports in compliance with NYSDOT requirements
- Conduct structural evaluations, load ratings, and engineering calculations
- Develop repair recommendations and construction documents for flagged conditions
- Provide in-office support for inspection planning and reporting
- Ensure all work meets safety and regulatory standards
