About The Position

The Team Lead provides on-site leadership and oversight of daily operations within a shelter-based environment, ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive setting for residents and staff. This role supervises direct care and peer staff, supports service delivery, and ensures compliance with policies and documentation standards. The Team Lead utilizes a person-centered, trauma-informed, and harm reduction approach while promoting a positive team culture and high-quality resident experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field OR equivalent experience required
  • Experience in behavioral health, shelter-based services, or residential settings required
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and lead teams effectively
  • Driver Level: Level 1, valid driver's license, reliable transportation, insurance and clean MVR required

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to consumers, maintaining oversight of operations, safety, and environment
  • Ensure consistent use of person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented practices
  • Oversee daily shelter functions including intake/orientation, resident routines, activities, and meals
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and structured environment, ensuring completion of facility checks, safety protocols, and resident expectations
  • Collaborate with Integrated Care staff, Peers, BHS staff, and partners to ensure coordinated services
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for staff, residents, and stakeholders during assigned shifts
  • Facilitate team communication through shift hand-offs, team meetings, and regular updates
  • Support coordination of care, transitions, and discharge planning
  • Monitor behavior, safety, and overall functioning within the shelter-based environment
  • Respond to and lead crisis intervention efforts, including de-escalation and incident management
  • Identify trends, concerns, or risks and communicate with leadership and care teams
  • Ensure appropriate incident reporting and follow-up
  • Model and reinforce person-centered, respectful interactions with residents
  • Support staff in building positive relationships and engaging residents in services and routines
  • Promote a welcoming, structured environment that supports dignity, stability, and engagement
  • Address resident concerns, conflicts, and feedback in a professional and timely manner
  • Ensure accurate, timely documentation and compliance with agency and regulatory standards
  • Monitor staff documentation, productivity, and billing requirements, providing coaching as needed
  • Maintain required logs, reports, schedules, and communication records
  • Ensure completion of training and adherence to all policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Address and escalate staff concerns to Director; foster a positive and accountable team culture
