About The Position

As the Team Lead, Mortgage Underwriting, you'll oversee daily underwriting operations, including pipeline management and escalations. Works with cross-functional teams (sales/originations, processing) to support underwriting decisions and improve processes. Mentors’ underwriter team and contributes to training performance. Responsible for overseeing a team of quality control Underwriters, that perform quality checks and reviews to ensure loans purchased are of high quality and meet the Bank’s standards and guidelines. Quality reviews include re-underwriting of loans to validate income, debts, loan to value and other key data elements. Oversee and manage third party vendors that perform underwriting and compliance reviews, to ensure good work quality and timelines are met. Manage pipelines to deliver on established SLA’s, and exceed customer expectations. Review and approve exception requests and scenarios, decision will be based on strong compensating factors. Ensure responses are timely. Review and approve customized guidelines submitted by customers. Perform market analysis and comparisons. Present recommendations to senior managers and sales team. Provide process improvement recommendations that will streamline our processes and improve the customer experience. Lead and develop a team; responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, training and development.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience in Loan Administration or similar field.
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
