About The Position

To provide a high quality of education and care for young children. Responsibilities include ensuring active supervision at all times, using and modeling positive discipline techniques to ensure a safe and healthy environment, supporting the implementation of curriculum and following the daily schedule. The aide will engage with children and help to support all students’ needs, assist in planning, coordinating and encouraging family engagement opportunities, and help in the completion of required forms/documentation in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Other duties involve maintaining students’ education files, adhering to all state and federal requirements/standards (i.e. OEC, NAEYC, Head Start, etc.), maintaining open lines of communication with families, and collaborating with other staff to ensure the needs of families are being met. The role also requires using appropriate food handling, sanitation and OSHA procedures at all times, attending and actively participating in staff trainings, meetings and Agency events, aiding in conducting safety drills as required, helping to maintain a clean, safe, well-organized, clutter-free, classroom environment, and maintaining a positive and nurturing demeanor to ensure a productive work environment. Non-essential duties include performing other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 6+ months working w/ young children in a center-based environment
  • Ability to successfully demonstrate child engagement and effective classroom management skills.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education
  • Warm and nurturing personality
