About The Position

The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Day Care Unit supports families by providing on-site Day Care Services. We are committed to serving all families and children, including those with disabilities, by offering enrichment services that help children develop, learn and achieve success. Our services provide: A healthy, safe and supportive learning environment for children from all backgrounds An opportunity to understand a child’s individual needs and design a learning experience that help them to grow Parent education and parenting support on site at the centers Opportunities throughout the year for parents to participate in center activities Extended hours to support working families Assistance with access to child care subsidies and funding The Salina Infant Center has a recent opening for a Teacher responsible for the development, implementation, facilitation, monitoring and evaluation of our Early Head Start program in the Infant Center classrooms for children 6 weeks to 3 years of age. This is a fantastic opportunity to Teach children at an early age and assist them with their development. As a Teacher, this position is Full-time, hourly, Non-exempt with access to our Benefit offerings upon completion of the probationary period.

Requirements

  • Clearance through NYS Central Registry is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum three years related experience required, with one year experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years.
  • Child Development Associates (CDA) Credential required.
  • Must meet NYS/Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations requirements.
  • Must meet health standards for OCFS licensing, be able to lift up to 40 pounds and be able to participate in all developmentally appropriate activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates’ Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a day care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement with room staff team a curriculum that will address both individual children’s and group needs appropriately utilizing EHS curriculum.
  • Provide supervision, role modeling, and support and encourage professional development of all child care staff and volunteers through team meetings, shared program planning, and day to day interactions.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in all classroom environments for children 6 weeks to 3 years of age as needed to meet the required classroom ratio.
  • Monitor and maintain the classroom environment including cleanliness, minor repairs, health and safety issues, inventory and request supplies and equipment.
