About The Position
Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools is a network of PreK-12 free public charter schools in Memphis, TN, and Birmingham, AL, dedicated to preparing students for college and life. Founded in 2009, the network has grown to serve over 1950 students across multiple campuses, consistently exceeding local and state averages in math and English Language Arts. The mission is built on three core beliefs: high-quality public education for every child, essential character development, and exposure to diverse opportunities. Freedom Prep fosters a structured, academically rigorous environment promoting excellence in core subjects, advanced academic skills, and core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Excellence, and Community. The academy is hosting Summer School for rising Kindergarten - 5th grade students through the Summer School Grant. The program runs from June 2nd to July 2nd, with working hours from 8:00am-2:30pm (teachers must arrive by 7:30am and stay until 3pm). It includes 3 full days of professional development prior to the start and additional PD twice per week. Teachers will receive a clear and scripted curriculum, coaching on intellectual prep and student work study, and high-level professional development. Students will undergo mandatory pre and post assessments to measure growth. A one-time stipend of $6,000 is offered for the position.
