You just might be the person we are looking for if you have : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Possess or be eligible for a valid teaching certificate for Vocational Agricultural Science with required endorsements for subject and level assigned Knowledge of subjects assigned Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills The mission of this role : Work with the Agricultural Science students, parents, community, Principal, Instructional Specialist, and the Director of Career and Technology Education to coordinate the Agricultural Science program and mission within the framework of the philosophy, goals, and policy established by the Board, within the statutes and standards of regulatory agencies, and in accordance with administrative regulations. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in veterinary medicine designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth as well as to function successfully in society. Enable students to gain college and career readiness by developing competencies and skills in the veterinary medical field towards the pursuit of student certification in veterinary medicine. What success looks like for this role : Teach multiple Agricultural Science courses as assigned on campus. Attend certification classes and workshops as deemed necessary by district personnel. Develop and support student leadership teams, which may require travel. Work with multiple teachers both at the campus and district level. Maintain accurate and complete records of programs and projects as required by law, District policy, or administrative regulations. Support and communicate State and District goals, policies, procedures, and directives to the staff under his/her direction and supervise their implementation. Communicate District goals, policies, administrative procedures, and TEA regulations to the various publics, as appropriate. Maintain a positive image of the school by involving community members, business and industry, and agencies in supportive roles such as speakers, internship sites, mentoring partnerships and other roles necessary for students to become Certified Veterinary Technicians. Attend staff, Agricultural Science teachers’, and other meetings, as scheduled. Submit necessary forms in a timely manner: including, but not limited to travel, student trip forms, itineraries, project visitations, etc. Develop and implement student-centered lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show evidence of preparation in the Katy Management of Automated Curriculum (KMAC) as required by district policy. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Cooperate with other members of staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s). Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits. Assess student achievement through on-going formal and informal testing and use results to plan instructional activities. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus Principal. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to Board policies, administrative regulations and IEPs. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and fellow teachers. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use professional communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. Potential leadership opportunities in this role: Supervise Agricultural Science projects and student teacher(s). Aspiring Assistant Principals Academy Workplace operational environment to include : Physical demands/environment factors: May require standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. Work with large and small animals. Some district travel is required. Mental demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to instruct; maintain emotional control under stress.
