About The Position

The job of Teacher - Behavioral Intervention is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for effecting positive behavioral change in students; providing referrals to families and/or students; and complying with mandated policies, regulations and/or procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge is required to plan appropriate meeting, training and support sessions with clear objectives and relevant, measurable outcomes, facilitate group sessions with adult audiences and instruction, incorporate appropriate technology, communicate high standards and expectations for each session, create an environment conducive to learning and teaching, provide relevant feedback to coaches, specialists, site administrators and Tier 1 participants.
  • Skills are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job demands.
  • Specific skill based competencies required satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintaining organized records, preparing and maintaining accurate records, analyzing assessment instruments, and operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications.
  • Has strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills.
  • Has an understanding of instructional methods and education curriculum.
  • Has the ability to lead and train others to apply behavior management techniques effectively.
  • Has knowledge of and ability to work with various support systems available in the community
  • Ability is required to schedule rehearsals, activities, meetings and/or events; gather, collate and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.
  • Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.

  • Minimum of five years Tier 1 classroom experience, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in job-related area, required
  • Background clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required
  • Must have Missouri Elementary Teaching Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum two years instructional coach experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison with the public and mental health community for the purpose of supporting individual student development goals.
  • Administers programs and services for emotionally disturbed students for the purpose of ensuring program eligibility and compliance with established guidelines.
  • Assists in developing procedures and training materials for district staff involved with emotionally disturbed students for the purpose of enhancing programs for students and ensuring that program operations are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts workshops, training, in-service presentations, etc. in classroom management techniques and other topics for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective relationships with emotionally disturbed students.
  • Coordinates handling of child abuse and neglect cases through contact with school staff and outside agency personnel for the purpose of complying with mandated requirements.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and remaining knowledgeable with program guidelines.
