About The Position

The rewards of being a Teacher On Special Assignment are immeasurable: This position seeks a person who is passionate about leading teachers and supporting students to be successful in both academics and personal/social areas. You will help to maintain a positive culture of behavior and learning, supporting teachers in behavior management and student discipline. You will work with the principal to establish a professional rapport with students, staff members and families. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certification with approved area/endorsement.
  • Valid Principal or Supervisor Certification.
  • Level One IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Five (5) years of teaching experience.
  • KNOWLEDGE OF Practices and methods of coaching and leading the work of others.
  • Techniques and methods for organizing, prioritizing and monitoring work.
  • Principles and practices of program administration and management.
  • Best practices, trends and emerging technologies.
  • Principles and methods of qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
  • Principles and practices of group facilitation and building consensus.
  • SKILLED IN Coordinating deadlines, establishing priorities and monitoring plan progress.
  • Evaluating and assessing student development needs for academic and personal social/developmental success.
  • Researching industry trends, solutions and best practices.
  • Researching issues and articulating recommendations.
  • Gathering and analyzing data to monitor program goal achievement.
  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards.
  • Written, verbal and presentative communication.
  • Results oriented with a demonstrated ability to produce specific and measurable results.
  • Excellent personal relation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in related subject content area.
  • At least three (3) years of school leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive, constructive and professional relationships with students, their families and fellow colleagues.
  • Promote a positive school environment by being highly present and visible during school hours.
  • Represent the school and district at after school student and family events.
  • Embrace the mission of NUSD as well as the vision and values of the district, while promoting them to students, staff members, parents, and other community members.
  • Model and support the NUSD approach to rigorous academic instruction combined with instilling and reinforcing behaviors that lead to academic and life success.
  • Participate in working groups of staff and teachers to plan, problem solve and provide continuous one-on-one support.
  • Communicate regularly with families and develop supportive home-school relationships.
  • Collaborate with other members of the school's leadership team to create and sustain programs for students and families that recognize and celebrate achievement.
  • Supervise, train and evaluate staff members at school site.
  • Model and support Professional Learning Communities.
  • Support teachers and leaders with data analysis and student progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
