Job Summary: The Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) will serve as a flexible resource dedicated to enhancing teaching quality, ensuring a positive school culture, and stepping in wherever is needed to maintain continuity of learning and student well-being across the school. This TOSA will act as a "floating" support, responding to the dynamic needs of students, staff, and the administration on a daily or weekly basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Education or related field
  • Successful completion of background check
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic School Mission and Philosophy
  • Demonstrated classroom management and age-appropriate teaching skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and create learning objectives for diverse learners
  • Proficiency in educational technology and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills with faculty, parents, and administrators
  • Active participation in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Ability to maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity
  • Dedication to professional growth and emerging educational practices
  • Experience developing and implementing engaging lesson plans
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40+ hours per week, including attendance at required school events (graduation, holiday programs, and other activities as determined by administration)
  • Able to attend school-related activities outside of traditional school hours, such as graduation, holiday programs, family events and any other programs deemed necessary by the principal and/or assistant principal
  • Sustained mobility to move throughout classroom and school environments for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks required in an educational setting
  • Full sensory capabilities including ability to speak clearly, see, hear, and respond effectively to students, staff, and administrators at all times
  • Ability to fulfill all commitments of the educational program throughout the school year

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, planned instruction in classrooms as needed to cover teacher absences.
  • Provide targeted academic interventions or small-group instruction to students identified as needing additional support.
  • Support instructional planning, differentiation, and resource development.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and helps young learners develop foundational academic, social, and spiritual skills
  • Support student progress through developmentally appropriate methods, adjusting instruction to meet individual learning needs
  • Support in planning and leading daily prayer, religious activities, and faith-based discussions that help students understand and embrace Catholic teachings in age-appropriate ways
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to ensure consistent educational approaches and maintain a positive school culture
  • Participate actively in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school's mission of academic excellence in an urban, faith-filled environment
