About The Position

Primary Purpose: To obtain the required student teaching experience for completion of program requirements by a four-year college, university, or an alternative certification program.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in an educational program, which requires student teaching
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to concentrate, interpret policy and procedures, reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements in student learning styles.
  • Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Presents subject matter according to the guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency and Board Policies.
  • Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  • Conducts assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Helps students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Be a positive role model for students and supports the mission of Lytle Independent School District while following the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
  • Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student/Parent Handbook.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
  • Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information.
  • Reports to campus on scheduled days and times that are agreed upon by Principal and University and/or preparation program.
