REN1 - Teacher Assistant (After School)
About The Position
82nd Street Academics is looking for part-time teacher assistants for our after-school program for the 2025 - 2026 school year. This position is located at Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights, Queens. They work with students across elementary, middle, and high school grade levels. The goal of our program is to provide the academic and social support needed to help students develop the skills required to successfully complete their secondary and collegiate education. We achieve these goals by providing a holistic program that includes homework assistance, Physical Fitness, STEM activities, Leadership Development Activities, Science Madness, Arts & Crafts, Dance, and Career Exploration. The estimated hours of this part-time position are Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There are weekly meetings and professional developments that may occur outside of these hours. The pay rate is $18 per hour.
Requirements
- Plan towards college graduation (required)
- At least one year of experience working with the students in a professional setting
- Commitment to the program through the end of June is a non-negotiable requirement
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Support student participation in high-quality after-school programming with the guidance of the Lead Teachers and After-School Site Director.
- Serve as role models for students.
- Monitor attendance and use engagement strategies to increase daily attendance.
- Adhere to policies on attendance and punctuality, dress code, and setting a tone of respect in interactions with students, colleagues, families, and staff.
- Communicate with families about any concerns and provide excellent partnership management in the school community.
