Tax Accountant, Tax, Global Compliance & Reporting - Financial Services Office (Insurance) (Manager) (Multiple Positions) (1675072), Ernst & Young U.S. LLP, New York, NY. Work with dedicated professionals in the insurance industry in order to be involved with dynamic tax compliance, reporting and advisory projects. Provide clients with tax guidance and planning related to tax compliance and reporting. Focus on tax consulting, tax accounting and tax compliance as well as assistance with tax accounting and internal control deficiencies. Provide tax advisory services for insurance clients. Work on key client issues in domestic federal taxation with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives; corporate tax; pass-through entities; S corporations; and industry focus. Responsibilities include audit support for tax provision reviews and tax provision preparation. Work on tax compliance process, including review of tax returns and tax projections throughout the year. Research tax technical issues and write opinions and tax memos for clients on specific tax issues. Keep informed of current tax developments and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations. Assist in the development of recommendations and implementation plans. Manage and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress. Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Cultivate business development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Business, Law or a related field, plus 5 years of post-bachelor's, progressive related work experience. Alternatively, will accept a Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Business, Law or a related field, plus 4 years of related work experience.
  • Must have 4 years of experience in ASC 740 and SSAP 101, with at least 3 years of experience serving SEC clients.
  • Must have 4 years of experience in providing income tax support for financial statement audits of Insurance companies as well as C Corporations.
  • Must have 4 years of experience in preparing 1120, 1120 PC, 1120 L and consolidated group returns.
  • Must have 3 years of experience in state and local taxation in state return compliance, state income tax accounting, and/or state apportionment fundamentals.
  • Must hold one of the following: US CPA certification; or member of U.S. State Bar.
  • Requires domestic and international travel up to 25% to meet client needs.
