About The Position

Join our team of enthusiastic educators and hosts at our Alameda, California distillery tasting room Conduct distillery tours and tastings and lead private tours for the trade. A minimum of two years' previous service experience is required, and applicants must be 21+. This is a part-time role with associated California-required benefits. Position Summary This position’s regularly scheduled shifts will operate primarily from Friday to Sunday. There may be the opportunity to work other shifts for private tours and events on other days of the week, as scheduled (up to 30 hours per week). Under supervision of the Tasting Room Manager, the Tasting Room Associate is responsible for assisting with the smooth and efficient operation of the tasting room in accordance with all necessary compliance requirements inclusive of federal, state, and all internal operations requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional hospitality experience required
  • High school diploma required, BS or BA preferred, or any combination of education and experience that would demonstrate required skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preferred
  • Knowledge of laws surrounding compliance in a distillery tasting room setting
  • Must possess valid California Food Handler Certification and RBS Certification
  • Must be of legal drinking age in the United States (age 21 years or above)
  • Ability to constantly move about from the tasting room to the production floor to the general office area
  • Ability to frequently climb stairs ascend/descend, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and balance
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs weight
  • Constantly works indoors in frequently loud conditions
  • Occasionally must be able to taste, smell, detect, and distinguish flavors and aromatics
  • All St. George Spirits employees are expected to perform their job in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to management.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations, including ABC regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all duties required of a Tasting Room Associate, such as delivering informational and educational content presentations across multiple experiences
  • General familiarity with St. George Spirits portfolio of products
  • Demonstrated ability to lead distillery tours for public, private, and industry groups
  • Handle appropriate opening and closing procedures for the tasting room (including ensuring that the building is secure, alarm is set, and gate is locked)
  • General cleaning duties including but not limited to glassware, bartops, floors, bathrooms, etc.
  • Assist with the front desk and/or bottle shop during both off-peak and peak traffic periods (e.g., greet guests in a warm fashion, check in guests, manage reservations, sell merchandise and spirits)
  • Assist with tasting room communications in a professional manner
  • Assist with bottle management tasks (e.g., open and stock bottles behind the bar, sanitize/dry/put away pour spouts)
  • Maintain appropriate stock of cleaning supplies for the tasting room
  • Maintain clean supply of towels for the tasting room (washing and drying as needing)
  • Assist with bottle and merchandise inventory
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
