About The Position

The Talent Acquisition Adjudication Specialist is a specialist who supports Carrier’s commitment to regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and governance excellence across talent acquisition and related business processes. This role partners closely with Legal, Employee and Labor Relations, and external vendors to ensure compliance with employment laws, background screening requirements, identity verification standards, and Carrier policies. The Talent Acquisition Adjudication Specialist plays a critical role in adjudicating background check and identity verification results, auditing screening processes, applying legal standards provided by Carrier’s Legal department, and ensuring fair, consistent, and defensible hiring decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Compliance, Legal, HR operations, Employee and Labor Relations

Nice To Haves

  • Prior paralegal, investigative, or legally adjacent experience involving document review and analysis with application of sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with FCRA, adverse action requirements, and general employment law.
  • Experience with Workday, ATS platforms, or background screening systems.
  • Proven experience managing difficult and confidential matters with exemplary judgment.
  • Demonstrated experience adjudicating background checks and/or identity verification results.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory & Policy Compliance Ensure adherence to Carrier policies, legal/ regulatory guidance and align workflows accordingly
  • Background Check & Identity Verification Adjudication Adjudicate background check and identity verification results in accordance with Carrier policy and legal standards. Review candidate-provided documentation and apply established decision matrices. Work independently to complete the adjudication process within established guidelines. Ensure compliant adverse action processes where applicable.
  • Audit, Validation & Quality Assurance Audit background check and identity verification processes and vendor reports. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and evidence.
  • Legal Partnership Interface with the Legal department to ensure compliance with legal standards and review complex cases. Escalate high-risk or ambiguous cases with clear documentation and analysis.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Talent Acquisition, HR, Legal, Technology, and external vendors. Provide guidance and education on compliant screening practices at the advice or direction of legal counsel and employee and labor relations. Provide insights on process effectiveness and people experience; use continuous improvement methods to recommend improvements
