About The Position

Wild West Systems is a defense technology startup redefining autonomous edge defense through modular, AI-powered weapon systems - designed, built, and launched in the USA. We're looking for a hands-on Talent Acquisition to help us build the team that builds the product. This is not a corporate HR role. You will own recruiting end-to-end for manufacturing, engineering, and operations, moving fast, locally, and with extremely high standards. If a process doesn't exist, you build it. If hiring stalls, you unblock it. You'll find real ownership, direct access to leadership, and work that directly supports systems fielded in the real world. Requirements

  • Proven recruiting or HR experience in fast-moving environments
  • Hands-on experience hiring technical, manufacturing, or operational roles
  • Strong judgment, bias for action, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Minimum 5 years of talent acquisition experience, preferably in a manufacturing facility
  • U.S. citizenship / ITAR-compliant status required

Nice To Haves

  • Startup, hardware, manufacturing, or defense experience a plus
  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Drive full-cycle recruiting for machinists, mechanics, engineers, and ops roles
  • Build local Austin / Central Texas talent pipelines
  • Partner directly with leadership on hiring priorities and timing
  • Run tight interview loops and close candidates
  • Establish early-stage people ops foundations (onboarding, compliance, documentation)
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits
