About The Position

The Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a pivotal role in attracting, engaging, onboarding, and retaining top talent for AABR. This position executes full-cycle recruitment strategies, partners closely with hiring managers, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and OPWDD regulations. The role also supports succession planning and leads targeted retention strategies for first-year Direct Support Professionals. Success in this role requires strong judgment, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to collaborate across clinical and non-clinical teams.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, recruitment, or human resources preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience executing full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and related best practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management capability with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruitment technologies.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with hiring managers and stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to teach and guide hiring managers in behavioral interviewing techniques.
  • Commitment to diversity, racial equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to work cross-functionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Nonprofit and/or OPWDD provider experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with OPWDD requirements for clinical and direct care roles.
  • Strong understanding of HR metrics, analytics, and reporting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies to source, screen, and evaluate candidates across all open positions.
  • Participate in succession planning initiatives and contribute to identifying and developing internal talent pipelines.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to clarify job requirements, conduct behavioral interviews, and guide selection decisions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external recruitment partners including job boards, academic institutions, and community organizations.
  • Analyze recruitment metrics and provide insights that enhance hiring processes and strengthen the candidate experience.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding process to ensure new hires transition smoothly into the organization.
  • Promote AABR’s employer brand and value proposition to support long-term recruitment and retention.
  • Maintain current knowledge of recruitment best practices, trends, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Design and implement targeted retention strategies for first-year Direct Support Professionals.
  • Complete I-9 forms, verify documentation, and maintain all I-9 files in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Conduct and manage all required background checks, including fingerprints and references, ensuring adherence to OPWDD and legal standards.
  • Perform clerical and administrative tasks to support HR processes (photocopying, scanning, mailing, documentation management).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
