About The Position

We are Lockheed Martin You will be the Systems Engineering Manager for the Simulation & System Labs (SSL) Common Procurement Team. Our organization is responsible for developing and maintaining Aviation Simulation Systems utilized for systems development from concept design through production and delivery. What You Will Be Doing As the Simulation & System Labs Common Procurement Manager you will be responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, recognition/disciplinary actions, and Laboratory skills competency development. Your responsibilities will also include: Managing procurement activities across Line of Business labs, including cost, schedule, and execution Provide team leadership and oversight, helping to create and outline standard work practices, process, and structured knowledge continuity to grow a skilled workforce specializing in non-production procurements. Support pursuits of new business for the team and guide the planning and execution of that work, including the development of proposals with task descriptions, estimates of effort, and basis for those estimates. Close coordination with laboratory customers, new business development, laboratory functional leadership, and laboratory system development teams to effectively address new capability requests for the laboratories. Provide technical support and advice to the laboratory and supplier development teams to ensure common understanding of proposed new system capabilities that will encompass the full product development process from development of system requirements and design. You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (STEM discipline preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and 9 + years of relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, supply chain, or procurement, with at least 3 years leading a team of engineers/analysts in a complex, fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP/ procurement platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) and familiarity with PLM or configuration‑management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical requirements into clear procurement specifications and interfacing with stakeholders across engineering, finance, and senior leadership.
  • US Citizen

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to address complex matters and solutions with senior leadership.
  • Experience with project planning and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and motivate multidisciplinary engineers and purchasing specialists; experience conducting performance reviews, succession planning, and fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Proven track record delivering procurement‑related projects on schedule and within budget, using formal project‑management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile, Lean).
  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate supply‑chain risks (single‑source parts, lead‑time variability, compliance) that could impact lab‑venue readiness.
  • Master's degree preferred
