Leidos Defense Sector is seeking a Hybrid Cloud Engineer to join our engineering team and support the design, deployment, and sustainment of secure, scalable, cloud‑native and on‑premise systems. The ideal candidate brings strong Linux administration experience, virtualization expertise, and the ability to maintain secure, mission‑critical environments across multiple security domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related disciple with 4+ years of related experience. Additional experience, training, or certifications may substitute for degree
  • U.S. citizen; Currently possessing an Active DoD Top Secret clearance and eligibility for Top Secret/SCI
  • Currently hold a DoD 8140 IAT level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Sec+)
  • Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts and services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Have an active foundational cloud certification: AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals (AZ‑900), or Google Cloud Digital Leader
  • Proven experience administering enterprise RHEL systems
  • Experience with virtualization/container technologies (VMware, KVM, or Hyper‑V)
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs)
  • Familiarity with DoD security policies and STIG implementation
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Experience managing RHEL in production environments using automation tools (Ansible preferred)
  • Familiarity with virtualization administration at scale (vSphere clusters, vCenter)
  • Experience with cross‑domain solutions or multi‑domain architectures
  • Knowledge of storage systems (SAN/NAS), backup solutions, and performance tuning
  • Experience designing, building, and operating data ingestion and streaming pipelines using Apache NiFi
  • Advanced cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Azure Administrator (AZ‑104), or Google Associate Cloud Engineer
  • Hands‑on experience deploying and managing workloads in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with cloud‑native services including compute (EC2, Azure VMs), storage (S3, Azure Blob), networking (VPC, Virtual Networks), and identity management (IAM)
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, IL4/IL5)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automation and tooling
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Responsibilities

  • Develop proficiency in cloud platforms and services to support future cloud migration and hybrid infrastructure initiatives
  • Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in both on‑prem and cloud environments
  • Install, configure, and operate Apache NiFi for dataflow automation, including processor configuration, flow monitoring, and enterprise integration
  • Manage virtualized infrastructure and support the full lifecycle of virtual machines
  • Perform routine system administration tasks including OS installation, configuration management, backup/recovery, monitoring, and capacity planning
  • Support basic network administration tasks such as IP addressing, VLANs, routing fundamentals, firewall rule verification, and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Implement lifecycle policies, bucket policies, encryption (KMS), and access controls for S3 storage to meet data protection and retention requirements
  • Implement and enforce security controls in accordance with DoD policies, STIGs, and DISA guidance; perform vulnerability remediation and compliance checks
  • Support cross‑domain solutions and controlled data transfers between security domains; collaborate with security and information assurance teams
  • Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and change control records
  • Respond to incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on system upgrades, maintenance windows, and deployment planning
  • Use automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) to deliver repeatable, auditable system changes
  • Participate in on‑call rotation and provide occasional after-hours support
