About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Systems Engineer who will be a member of a dynamic team who will be working on the United Kingdom’s National Air Traffic Services (NATS) NAS Replacement (NAS-R) program. NAS-R is a system that will modernize and enhance the Flight Data Processing system to increase efficiency and performance of the UK National Airspace System (NAS). This system will seamlessly integrate into the NATS ecosystem, serving as a robust and reliable replacement for the current operational NAS. Location: Gaithersburg 50% Hybrid Schedule Responsibilities: • Supporting the NAS-R program as a Leidos System Engineer (SE). Providing technical leadership and guidance for development of SE work products across the NAS-R program the successful candidate will be: • Modernizing the air traffic control equipment by improving the exchange of electronic flight data. • Serving as a prime SE technical interface for internal and external customers. • Leading and facilitating Requirements Reviews and Working Group meetings with customers. • Identifying risks, opportunities and dependencies and coordinating plans to resolve the risks and dependencies. • Demonstrate understanding of engineering issues and the ability to develop cost effective solutions. • Developing A-Level System/Subsystem Specification (SSS) requirements, B-Level Software Requirements Specification (SRS), Systems Engineering Modeling and Design, and Computer Human Interface design and mock-up development for the NAS-R system. • Interfacing with the customer to address/answer questions relating to the developed requirements, use cases describing human interactions and design decisions. • Providing support needed for software development, integration and test, and other functional areas • Articulating user needs and requirements from high level user stories. • Developing the design for the user interface framework including client and server-side components; analyzing and designing databases within an application. • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 2+ years of relevant professional experience; or a master’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with less than 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Systems Engineering experience, including proven experience working in complex projects gathering user requirements and converting them into system requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience:
  • working directly with customers to discuss their requirements and objectives
  • interfacing with other functional areas (e.g. Software, Hardware)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IBM Doors
  • Familiarity with SysML and System Engineering modeling and design approach
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian Tool Suite and JIRA
  • Experience supporting Requirements Reviews and Working Group meetings with customer ATMC
