About The Position

This Systems Engineer Level II position at Nalu Federal involves the comprehensive design, testing, upgrading, and integration of new or existing infrastructure platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational business requirements. The role requires thorough documentation of the entire engineering process, from build and configuration to testing and deployment. Key responsibilities include coordinating changes with system administrators and stakeholders, implementing security measures, and performing infrastructure platform modeling, analysis, and planning. The engineer will also evaluate emerging technologies, assist with complex troubleshooting, and may perform day-to-day operational duties in lab or production environments. A significant aspect of the role is centralizing mobile device management, enhancing security, integration, and mobile application adoption, and supporting disaster recovery and COOP plans. Collaboration with the Cybersecurity team is essential to maintain baseline system security and mitigate cyber threats.

Requirements

IT Security Designation: ADP/IT- II
Investigation Required: Tier 3 (T3)
IA Technical/Management Designation: IAT II and CE Commercial (Baseline)
IAT II Certificate: Please see Section 0 Commercial Certificates for DoD 8570.01-M certificate requirement
CE Certificate: Professional (or expert) level certificate for supported technology as approved by the COR
Six (6) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency with server operations to include blade architectures, virtualization technologies, Active Directory management, Group Policy, application support, and storage solutions
Bachelors' Degree
Ability to work with other senior technical and user staff to complete projects
Experience in areas such as AD, SCOM, MECM, IIS, SQL, DSUW, Remedy ITSM, M3, Exchange, Linux, Unix, and patch management
Ability to support after hours downtime and Documentation creation/review
Oncall support rotation
Demonstrates ability to configure, test, implement and maintain a networked system server environment or application along with ability to support administers and users utilizing the environment or application
Demonstrates ability to configure, test, implement and maintain an enterprise level endpoint management solution with ability to support administrators and users utilizing the environment or application
Ability to evaluate and resolve system, servers, virtualization, storage, and processing issues
Ability to configure and implement system, servers, virtualization, and storage architecture
Ability to evaluate performance using hardware and software diagnostic tools
Experience with deploying & hardening Windows Server 2016, Server 2019, and Server 2022

Nice To Haves

Microsoft MSCE-level certification preferred, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

Design, test, upgrade and integrate new or existing infrastructure platforms in accordance to the organization's business requirements
Document all aspects of the engineering process as it relates to build and configuration, testing, and deployment of infrastructure platforms
Coordinate changes such as implementation of new infrastructure platforms, upgrades or version increments to existing platforms with system administrators and stakeholders
Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard infrastructure platforms
Perform infrastructure platform modeling, analysis, and planning
Coordinate with architecture and evaluate new and emerging infrastructure platform technologies and make recommendations for selection of these products
Assist system administrators with complex troubleshooting issues and if needed coordinate vendor engagements to assists in troubleshooting efforts
May provide day-to-day operational or administrative duties for deployed infrastructure platforms in lab or production environments
Apply fundamental engineering concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments
Work with other senior technical and user staff to complete projects
Centralize mobile device management and maintenance, combining security and management solutions for devices, applications, data, and content
Enable IT to track and manage wireless devices
Improve security, integration, and mobile application adoption
Securely manage mobile devices and platforms
Increase access to data, applications, and services
Support disaster recovery and COOP plans, systems, and operations

Work collaboratively with Cybersecurity team to ensure information technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g., firewalls, demilitarized zones, and encryption) are adhered to
