About The Position

Platform Engineers are responsible for the short- and long-term stability of our Store and DC server environments. This encompasses on-site hardware, operating systems, and developing new automation and scripting improvements within the space. About the Team Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & Platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.

Requirements

Familiarity with customer intake ticketing services (e.g. ServiceNow).
Independent motivation and a strong ability to learn quickly.
Inquisitive mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Adaptability to evolving responsibilities as new technologies, skillsets, and areas of operation are introduced.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Understanding of DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins, Docker, or Kubernetes.
Experience with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or Unix.
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols.
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or SaltStack.
Familiarity with data platforms and data warehousing technologies such as Hadoop or Snowflake.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology, or related area.
3 years' experience in technology infrastructure engineering across areas such as compute, storage, network, mobility or virtualization relatedtechnologies.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and troubleshoot server hardware at Stores and Distribution Centers.

Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies and services.
Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the field of infrastructure and platforms.
