About The Position

Sammons Financial Group is seeking a Technical Lead to guide and mentor a team of data engineers and developers responsible for designing and implementing scalable data and integration solutions. This role requires strong leadership in Data Analysis, Snowflake, SQL and Kafka, with a focus on enabling high-quality data flow and seamless integration across enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will be both a hands-on technologist and a strategic thinker who ensures solutions are performant, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience in a technical leadership role leading data or integration teams.
  • Expertise in SQL and Snowflake (data modeling, SQL optimization, SnowPipe/Streaming, SnowSQL).
  • Proven experience in event based Architecture (Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, Amazon Kinesis).
  • Proven experience in Data Analysis and design, building enterprise level data products consumed by multiple groups.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt/ADF/ADL for transformation, version control and data model orchestration.
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and data modeling principles.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Jenkins, Maven) and automated testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or Azure).
  • Experience working in Agile delivery models and cross-functional enterprise projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams across multiple initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
  • Proactive problem solver with strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • College Degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems Preferred
  • Minimum 12 years' IT development experience or equivalent Preferred
  • Experience as Technical Lead and/or Project Architect on very complex multi-subsystem solution delivery projects Preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate with business partners and other IT staff
  • Problem solving skills sufficient to perform research and recommend a proposed solution to problems
  • Able to work on multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
  • Able to effectively direct and coordinate the work of other team members on a project without having HR management responsibility for them
  • Knowledge of computer programming languages as required for the system

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python preferred) for data manipulation or automation.
  • Experience in the Life Insurance or Financial Services domain.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Mentor: Provide technical direction, mentorship, and code review for a team of data engineers and developers focused on integration and analytics.
  • Data Engineering Leadership: Architect and implement end-to-end data pipelines leveraging Snowflake, dbt, Kafka and modern ELT/ETL practices.
  • Integration Architecture: Design, develop, and maintain APIs and event-based integrations, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • System Modernization: Drive modernization of legacy data flows and integration patterns into cloud-based architectures.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, data architects, and solution architects to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Governance and Quality: Establish and enforce data engineering and integration best practices around CI/CD, testing and data governance.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure all data and integration solutions adhere to company and industry standards for security, compliance, and auditability.
  • Continuous Improvement: Research and recommend emerging tools, patterns, and technologies that improve data delivery and integration efficiency.
