About The Position

We are seeking a System Admin to support large-scale migration and operations on a large, high-profile DOD contract. The I3TS program provides enterprise-wide IT support to enable DTRA’s Information Management & Technology Directorate (ITD) to consolidate, modernize, and continuously innovate the delivery of IT services and mission capabilities to DTRA’s internal and external mission partners operating in CONUS and OCONUS locations. • The System Administrator duties will include overall installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware. • Duties will include management of systems infrastructures, implementing best practices to Identify and recommend system functional specifications, configuration of physical and virtual systems, backup and recovery of IT infrastructure. • Support duties may include updating and supporting systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space. Implementing critical patches, reviewing systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues. • Coordinate with PMO and all Tier levels while also maintaining the ability to use knowledge of VMware Horizon View, vSphere, VDI to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems • Be able to work in a rapid paced environment and must be able to work independently. • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. • Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. • Creates, maintains, and implements detailed documentation and maintains standard operating procedures. • Application of security settings and other commercial best practices such as DISA STIGS. • Provides coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level technical staff. • Implement and maintain robust system hardening techniques using security compliance tools such as Evaluate STIG, SCAP, STIG Viewer. • Execute preventive maintenance, and brief Change Review Board (CRB) as required for major changes to the production environment. • Support special projects and day‐to‐day operations as needed or assigned.

Requirements

  • BS degree and 4-8 years of overall related experience with a Windows/Linus server environment
  • Additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Extensive experience working with virtual environments using VMware
  • Shell scripting (e.g. bash) and experience in other languages like Perl, Python, and Java.
  • Experience with application of security settings and other commercial best practices such as DISA STIGS.
  • Experience with Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (such as FireEye and McAfee sensors and sandboxes)
  • Experience with Security Incident Event Management (SIEM)
  • Must have at least an active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Currently possess DoD 8750 certification at least IAT level II, e.g. Security+ce.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience working with virtual environments using VMware
  • Shell scripting (e.g. bash) and experience in other languages like Perl, Python, and Java.
  • Experience with application of security settings and other commercial best practices such as DISA STIGS.
  • Experience with Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (such as FireEye and McAfee sensors and sandboxes)
  • Experience with Security Incident Event Management (SIEM) including Splunk
  • ITIL certification
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 & 2019
