About The Position

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Windows System Administrator. This position is located within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC), Operations, Management, and Information Division (OMI). This position's mission is to provide tier 1 support for science and administrative functions at SEFSC’s Miami, FL facility.

Requirements

  • US Citizen; Public Trust
  • Associate’s degree in Networking, Systems Administration, or comparable experience.
  • 3 years’ experience with System Administration.
  • Expertise in providing customer service and oral/written communication.
  • Expertise in analytical and problem-solving.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and administering network technologies.
  • Expertise in time prioritization and task management.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in installing, configuring, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network equipment Servers, PCs
  • Expertise in the administration of network operating systems such as WIN10, Server 2012 and newer.
  • Substantial experience coordinating with a diverse group of customers and other team members on the assessment and development of policies and procedures to help contribute to IT development and IT security effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of system documentation, configuration & management

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot network hardware such as Workstations, Servers, Printers/Scanners and Switches.
  • Developing disaster recovery procedures and contingency plans for sensitive documents.
  • Monitor and maintain network infrastructure and data backup solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance on a weekly basis to customers and team members regarding vulnerability mitigation methods, status, patch deployment strategies, firmware, and application updates.
  • Ensure application compatibility and troubleshoot application compatibility issues.
  • Create and implement change requests for incidents/problems as needed (JIRA).
  • Perform regular patch management tasks utilizing network infrastructure tools such as IBM BigFix, Nessus, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and EPO to help mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Create Fixlets and Tasks with IBM BigFix for testing/updating Servers/PCs and software applications/firmware to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Develop system-hardening strategies and perform system-hardening procedures on Network devices, Servers, Operating Systems, Applications, Databases, and network accounts.
  • Remove unused and unnecessary network accounts and privileges.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Configure and maintain Cisco Call Manager systems including desk phones and user voicemail Inboxes.
  • Utilize network system security tools such as Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS), and AD to apply password administration.
  • Manage computer room facilities, accounts, and network permissions such as adding, removing, and maintaining user accounts, groups, and other functions in AD.
  • Document end-user requests, business requirements, and IT issues.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures for hardware and applications software.
  • Implement server-based requirements and improve and standardize project management and documentation processes throughout the enterprise in coordination with stakeholders.
  • Utilize network system security controls to run regular IT security reports, reviews, and system audits.
  • Create and implement compilers, group policies, scripts, and registry edits.
  • Perform annual inventory tracking for new and used equipment and software.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, hardware, Local Area Networks (LAN), and Wide Area Networks (WAN).
  • Follow up with customers to ensure the issue has been resolved.
  • Managing software licensing.
