About The Position

The System Manager for Sourcing & Contracting plays a pivotal leadership role within Albany Med Health System, overseeing strategic sourcing, contract lifecycle management, and supplier performance across clinical and non clinical categories. This leader manages a team of seven Contract Specialists and partners closely with clinical, operational, and financial stakeholders to ensure that sourcing decisions support high quality patient care, operational efficiency, and financial stewardship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in healthcare sourcing, contracting, or supply chain management.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with contract management systems and supply chain analytics tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Certification such as CPSM, CMRP, or CSCP.
  • Experience in a multi‑hospital or integrated delivery network (IDN) environment.
  • Familiarity with GPO contracts, value analysis processes, and clinical product evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing & Contracting Lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies across assigned categories, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, clinical needs, and financial targets.
  • Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including RFP development, bid analysis, negotiation, award, implementation, and renewal.
  • Evaluate and optimize the system’s contract portfolio to reduce variation, drive standardization, and maximize value.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and organizational requirements in all contracting activities.
  • Team Leadership & Development Directly supervise, mentor, and develop a team of seven Contract Specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular coaching, and support team members in managing complex contracting initiatives.
  • Promote cross‑functional collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across the supply chain department.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a trusted partner to clinical leaders, department heads, and executive leadership, translating operational needs into sourcing strategies.
  • Support value analysis processes and clinical integration initiatives.
  • Ensure communication related to contract changes, cost‑saving opportunities, and sourcing impacts goes out to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
  • Financial & Operational Performance Identify and deliver cost‑reduction, cost‑avoidance, and value‑enhancement opportunities through strategic sourcing and contract optimization.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to service levels and contractual obligations.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including savings, contract coverage, and sourcing cycle times.
  • Process Improvement & Innovation Champion process improvements that enhance efficiency, transparency, and data‑driven decision‑making within the sourcing and contracting function.
  • Leverage analytics, market intelligence, and benchmarking to inform sourcing strategies and strengthen negotiation outcomes.
  • Support system‑wide initiatives such as standardization, technology adoption, and supply chain transformation.
