Summary System Analyst Lab Responsibilities: The Laboratory Information System (LIS) System Analyst plays a critical role in supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the LIS and its interfaces within the clinical and anatomic pathology domains. This position acts as a key liaison between laboratory departments, IT, and vendors, ensuring seamless integration, regulatory compliance, data integrity, and operational excellence across all laboratory information workflows. The analyst provides end-user support, system enhancements, and technical leadership in projects and ongoing operations. The analyst also collaborates closely with cross-functional departments such as Infection Control, Quality, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Clinical Informatics to ensure the LIS supports broader clinical, safety, and quality goals across the healthcare system. Manages and maintains the LIS, including systems, instruments, and middleware; performs system builds, testing, documentation of changes, and manages system security and access. Supports the implementation and maintenance of LIS interfaces with hospital systems, external labs, and analytical instruments; monitors and troubleshoots HL7 interfaces to ensure accurate data exchange, and coordinates with IT and vendors on upgrades, patches, and new interface rollouts. Provides daily operational support, including issue resolution, helpdesk triage, and after-hours technical assistance. Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams – including clinical, operational, and IT staff – to align LIS capabilities with evolving workflows and system needs, outside of formal project efforts. Leads and participates in complex projects within the LIS, Epic, or other hospital software, ensuring clear communication among multidisciplinary teams. Performs analysis, development, and implementation of new LIS solutions and enhancements. Collaborates with stakeholders to design workflows, align IT solutions with operational needs, and provide training and technical guidance. Monitors and maintains LIS compliance; develops policies and documentation; uses Excel and other data tools for quality reporting and regulatory support (e.g., CAP, CLIA, HIPPA, TJC) Develops innovative solutions to address complex laboratory and organizational needs. Functions as subject matter export for area of concentration in Soft, Epic, or other hospital software. System Analyst Lab Requirements: Associate Degree in Computer Science, or minimum of two years of laboratory or healthcare experience. Minimum of an associate degree in computer science or two (2) years of progressive work experience in the IT field, or two (2) years of healthcare experience [SM1]
