About The Position

The Switchboard Engineering Manager will lead the design, development, and execution of low-voltage switchboard systems, primarily supporting data center applications. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, managing a team while ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and customer requirements. This position operates at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and customer engagement—driving speed, accuracy, and accountability while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in switchboard or power distribution design
  • Prior leadership or team management experience
  • Strong knowledge of UL standards, NEC, and data center power systems
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical and mechanical engineers
  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, and timely delivery of engineering outputs
  • Review and approve designs, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and documentation
  • Oversee the design of low-voltage switchboards (UL 891, UL 1558 as applicable)
  • Ensure alignment with customer specifications, one-line diagrams, and operational requirements
  • Guide system architecture, including breakers, bus systems, controls, metering, and protection schemes
  • Support product standardization and modular design for scalability
  • Partner with manufacturing to ensure designs are efficient and production-ready
  • Support sales and estimating teams with quoting, BOM development, and technical alignment
  • Collaborate with customers on design reviews and technical clarifications
  • Work with supply chain on component selection and vendor coordination
  • Ensure compliance with UL, NEC, and applicable industry standards
  • Support factory witness testing (FWT), validation, and commissioning activities
  • Maintain documentation for certifications, testing procedures, and design validation
  • Manage engineering timelines to meet project schedules
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the design phase
  • Support project execution for large-scale programs
