Job Overview: The Senior Vice President of Overlay Trading is responsible for delivering highly scalable trading solutions to LPL’s Centrally Managed Advisory programs. This includes the trading function for these programs along with service and operational components specific to Centrally Managed program offerings. The programs include the Unified Managed Account (UMA), Separately Managed Account (SMA) and MF/ETF wrap programs. This leader’s team is comprised of over 60 team members and their assets under management is more than $200B. The SVP of Overlay Trading is a leader on the Advisory Programs team within the Wealth Management organization at LPL. It partners closely with the Advisory Programs team, Product and Technology teams, third party vendors for platform capabilities, as well as other key stakeholders in delivering a leading outsourced trading solution to clients. The leader must develop and regularly refresh strategies to improve the quality and scalability of this service (technology, vendor, and human capital) as it continues to grow and evolve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; CFA or MBA preferred
  • Series 7, 65/66 required. Series 24 preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience with 10+ years of specific experience in leading large-scale investment advisory trading teams
  • Knowledge in managed accounts, tax management, and future state platforms including familiarity with competition (broker-dealers, RIA custodians, TAMPs, etc.)
  • Knowledge of commercial trading platforms offered by third-party vendors (InvestCloud, VestMark, MyVest, Charles River Development, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Translate strategic directives into actionable plans and operational procedures.
  • Balance the delivery of excellent advisor/client experiences while driving operational efficiency. Specific focus on supporting the build out of emergent tax overlay capabilities, advisor utilization of alternative investments, and increased advisor flexibility within the UMA.
