About The Position

A key member of the digital-first External Affairs Team, the Sustainer Engagement Manager is responsible for applying strategic thinking, digital communications best practices, data analysis, and reporting to stabilize, grow, and maintain the organization’s monthly sustainer and gift-matching programs. Overseeing a portfolio responsible for approximately 25% of the organization’s contributed revenue goals, this position provides confidential support to the Co-Chief Executive Officers and the Development Director regarding operational, human/labor relations, and budgetary planning based on projected revenue through sustainer and gift-matching programs. This position creates, contributes to, and/or has access to corporate and organization planning documents, including staffing and compensation plans. Strict confidentiality is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or other relevant field
  • 5 years of experience in digital fundraising in nonprofits and/or political campaigns, including 2 years of experience focused on sustainer giving or supporter retention
  • Demonstrated understanding of rapid response fundraising, supporter lifecycle management, and multichannel marketing
  • Must demonstrate behavior that aligns with RAICES’ mission, vision and values – Integrity, Agility, Community, Compassion, and Wellness
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information to supporters and staff effectively
  • Top proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel), Google Apps, Squarespace, and CRM systems
  • Effective time management and attention to detail
  • Highly organized with the ability to work collaboratively and autonomously in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment
  • Sound judgment and sensitivity to highly confidential information: including but not limited to, confidential information about staffing and compensation plans based in part on projections of sustainer and gift-matching programs
  • Highest level of professional and ethical conduct
  • Strong interpersonal relations skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively, while inspiring and motivating others to achieve common goals and

Responsibilities

  • Manages multichannel digital marketing efforts to acquire, convert, retain, upgrade, and recapture sustaining supporters and maximize contributed revenue, with a focus on email, SMS/MMS, and digital ad tactics
  • Manages and executes segmentation strategies to ensure sustaining supporters receive the right ask at the right time
  • Tracks and reports sustainer retention, acquisition, and attrition rates
  • Handles sustainer pledge inquiries and concerns
  • Consults with and provides support for Chief Executive Officers and Directors regarding the impact of sustainer and gift-matching programs on operations, human/labor relations, and budgeting/finance.
  • Pilots innovative approaches to supporter engagement, including peer-to-peer campaigns, influencer partnerships, and community fundraisers that create sustainer pipelines
  • Audits workplace giving accounts to maximize gift and volunteer hour matching opportunities, including automated sustainer commitments through paycheck withholdings
  • Streamlines gift matching tactics to maximize recurring contributed revenue
  • Develops and evaluates solicitation strategies using data insights and A/B testing
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
