About The Position

Penn State Office of Physical Plant Sustainability team is seeking a dedicated and passionate student to support the growth of the Sustainable Labs Program. This role is ideal for someone eager to be an integral part a dynamic initiative focused on advancing campus sustainability by engaging and educating labs and researchers. The intern will play a crucial role in the program's administration, including strategic planning and organization, as well as developing and implementing educational and professional resources for labs.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled Penn State student with a GPA above 3.0.
• Strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
• Organized and capable of working independently.
• Demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, sustainability issues and topics.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with the operations of research labs in a university context is a plus.
• Experience with educational program development is a plus.
• Familiarity with graphic design platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support for the Sustainable Labs Program.
• Support the development and administration of a university-wide lab reuse initiative.
• Assist with the design and maintenance of the Sustainable Labs website, ensuring alignment with university standards.
• Help manage communication between program leadership and participating labs, including upkeep of the Microsoft Teams site.
• Document and report program outcomes and success stories.
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of educational and professional development programming for lab members.
• Develop marketing and promotional materials to recruit labs and promote the program.
• Conduct team-based lab visits to evaluate sustainability practices and offer recommendations.
• Collaborate with fellow interns to advance program goals.
