About The Position

The Sustainable Community Schools (SCS) Resource Coordinator at Mather High School is a central leader in implementing the SCS model—a transformative, justice-centered approach to education rooted in racial equity, community self-determination, and whole child development. This role bridges school, family, and community partnerships to dismantle oppressive systems, foster healing, and create sustainable systems of support. The SCS Resource Coordinator is responsible for managing and expanding the Sustainable Community school programs. Key duties include recruiting student participants, coordinating developmentally appropriate activities, engaging parents, and supervising staff and subcontractors. The Resource Coordinator also maintains accurate financial records, relevant operational metrics, collaborates with community members and organizations to provide services that meet the needs of students and families, and promotes the program to support growth and sustainability. The SCS Resource Coordinator will deeply collaborate with students, families, educators, community partners, and leadership teams to build a shared vision and develop collective strategies that ensure the SCS Principles, Praxes, and Pillars are fully embedded into the school’s culture. You understand the importance of advocating for youth voices and modeling positive, responsible, and healthy behavior to the school community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent of sixty college credit hours required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children and/or adults in a non-profit, social service or community development organization
  • Deep commitment to racial justice, equity, and community-led decision-making
  • Proven experience in community organizing, youth development, education, or related fields
  • Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders
  • 1-2 years of experience working with elementary or high school age youth
  • Ability to understand and interpret the policies, procedures, and general organizational structure of the Chicago Public Schools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate whole-school and community planning aligned with SCS principles and pillars.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to program staff, guiding the team to deliver high quality programming for students, families, and the community.
  • Ensure all program staff and partner organizations comply with Youth Guidance policies, guidelines, and compliance requirements.
  • Create and maintain a developmentally appropriate multi-age program in collaboration with parents, students, teachers, and school administrators.
  • Effectively manage and develop a program schedule that aligns with school-day programming and dismissal procedures, ensuring a smooth and consistent experience for students.
  • Offer staff coaching, modeling, and follow-up support to reinforce skills and promote consistent conflict resolution, behavior management techniques, and student supports.
  • Help to develop, convene and maintain a representative SCS Leadership Team that includes youth, parents, educators, school staff, and community members that meet monthly.
  • Facilitate neighborhood and school Needs and Asset Assessment process with the Leadership Team to strategize goals, budget priorities, and program planning.
  • Maintain open and regular communication and collaboration with all stakeholders (Principals, Leadership Team, Advisory Boards, Grant/Program Coordinators, etc.).
  • Support shared leadership by encouraging equitable participation, decision-making, and goal-setting across all school groups.
  • Ensure complete compliance with all requirements by maintaining accurate documentation and submitting all necessary reports promptly.
  • Coordinate and oversee program activities, ensuring accurate maintenance of enrollment data, consent forms, and attendance records.
  • Actively develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and recruit plan to promote programs, services and/or events to target audiences, including students, families, and the community,
  • Oversee budget management, including the procurement of materials and supplies, and ensure the maintenance of accurate financial records, data, and statistical reports in accordance with organizational and compliance standards.
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships within the community to support the collective vision.
  • Recruit and oversee vendors and contracted services providers to ensure high quality curriculum aligned with school needs, program goals, and adherence to agreed-upon terms and policies.
  • Participate in professional development, coaching, and communities of practice. Work closely with SCS teams across the district to share learning and strengthen practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
