About The Position

The primary purpose of the Undergraduate Internship is to provide an intern with relevant field experiences in their chosen field of study. One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction, guidance and to assess performance. The intern is responsible for observing the functions and processes of the assigned work unit. In addition, the intern may be given selected work assignments to reinforce the learning experience, to assess the performance levels and to provide benefit to the work unit. The intern will be responsible for completing all internship-related assignments and reports for both Mayo and the participating educational facility. The duration and timing of the internship will be arranged with the intern and the sponsoring educational facility. Placement in our internship program does not provide financial assistance with relocation, housing, or transportation. Interns must pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check. Mayo Clinic is seeking an undergraduate intern to support the development of a sustainable landscape management plan. This internship offers an opportunity to contribute to Mayo Clinic’s sustainability efforts by helping evaluate current landscape practices and identify strategies to enhance environmental performance, biodiversity, resilience, and long-term stewardship of campus grounds. The intern will conduct research, gather and analyze information, and help develop practical recommendations that support healthy, sustainable, and attractive landscapes across Mayo Clinic campuses.

Requirements

  • The incumbent must be enrolled in a degree program from a college or university.
  • Typically, this internship would occur after the student has taken most of the courses required by the degree program.
  • Must have authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee or asylee).

Nice To Haves

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Biology, Natural Resources, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong interest in sustainability, landscape management, and environmental stewardship
  • Ability to conduct research, analyze information, and synthesize findings into clear recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
