About The Position

As a Sushi Cook at Pabu Izakaya, you’ll be part of a passionate culinary team dedicated to precision, creativity, and authenticity. You’ll prepare and present sushi and sashimi to the highest standards, balancing traditional Japanese techniques with a modern izakaya approach. Working closely with the sushi chef team, you’ll ensure every dish embodies our commitment to craftsmanship, seasonality, and the spirit of omotenashi—genuine hospitality

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working in a sushi, omakase, or Japanese restaurant environment
  • Strong knife skills and deep knowledge of sushi preparation and presentation
  • Familiarity with Japanese ingredients, fish handling, and proper rice techniques
  • Commitment to food safety and cleanliness in all aspects of preparation
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining precision and poise
  • Passion for hospitality, teamwork, and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Openness to continuous learning and mentorship under experienced sushi chefs
  • Ability to work clean, organized, and as part of a team
  • Able to move and lift 40 pounds at a time
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period
