About The Position

We are seeking a surveyor who will lead all team members and mining operations at our mining facilities in Brookwood, Alabama. Mining positions may be required to work various shifts, rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of surveying methods, equipment, and software, such as total stations, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle complex or challenging survey situations and communicate those plans with proper management.
  • Required to follow all applicable State and Federal safety rules and regulations, and all applicable Company-issued safety guidelines and policies.
  • At least 3 years of experience in underground surveying.
  • Must have good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be familiar with construction layout surveying.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in surveying and geomatics sciences, or related associate degree.
  • Preferably in underground coal mining.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all applicable State and Federal safety rules and regulations, and all applicable Company-issued safety guidelines and policies.
  • Conduct underground surveys of the mine workings, using various tools and software, such as total stations, and AutoCAD.
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of the survey data and report any errors or discrepancies.
  • Download data to use and update survey plans, maps, and drawings, using AutoCAD and other software.
  • Provide survey data and information, in a time-ly manner, to support mine planning, design, development, and production.
  • Must be able to provide accurate survey data and information to support mine planning, design, development, and production.
  • Run check surveys.
  • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment and software and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Properly care for survey equipment.
  • Keep records of survey work and data and submit reports as required.
  • Improve on safety standards by holding safety meetings, conducting safety interactions, and taking corrective action where required.
  • Ensure adherence to State, Federal and Company workplace policies and standard work procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control.
  • Maintain a high level of safety performance through effective communication, monitoring, and revision of standard work procedures.
  • Identify and report safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, and property damage at the workplace.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled safety meetings and training.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses with a view toward positive action, through training, equipment set-up or equipment repair and report on findings and conclusions.
  • Maintain environmental awareness amongst the workforce by holding meetings and involving the environmental department in related subjects.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental policy, work standards, management plans and regulatory obligations and requirements.
  • Integrate environmental policies, programs, and practices into all activities of the organization.
