PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS Enforces the in-house policies and procedures on all shifts by being able to identify cheating activities, undesirable patrons, pilferage, embezzlement, or any irregularity in order to protect corporate assets Works and assists the Surveillance Manager in maintaining operation of the Surveillance Department. Maintains surveillance of all casino departments, gambling and operations. Supervises Surveillance Operators. Monitors department’s daily schedules and shift reports. Knows and cares for video equipment, including cameras, records, miscellaneous office equipment and the intricate working of the Matrix System. Recommends on upgrading existing in-house procedures. Communicate with other department supervisors and managers. Communicates with outside law enforcement agencies. Must be able to make quick common-sense decisions regarding irregular activities. Knows when to advise compliance with regulation and when to withhold judgment and allow the department involved to handle the problems internally. Exercises care and good judgment in the handling of sensitive information. Must be totally familiar in the setting up and using the various functions on the console, and be able to correctly call up cameras for specific areas and make the proper adjustments to obtain the best possible coverage to cover the situation. Must be completely knowledgeable in department rules and be able to assist others in obtaining common goals for the benefit of the whole department. Establishes a good line of communication and rapport with outside department heads to further department’s effectiveness. All transactions must be handled in a businesslike manner. Displays leadership characteristics and promote harmony with all surveillance department members. Performs all other work-related duties as assigned by the Surveillance Manager. Requirements

  • Work Experience Required: At least 5 years in surveillance system operations in a gaming environment and at least 1 year experience as an Assistant Surveillance Supervisor.
  • Education: High School Diploma and/or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Licenses: A casino work permit from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Key Employee License from the Bureau of Gambling Control.
  • Other Requirements: Must be able to speak, read, and understand English. Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills. Must have knowledge in all phases of casino operation, knowledge of all games played at the Commerce Casino, and the ability to identify methods of cheating. It is strongly recommended that the Surveillance Supervisor have dealt or have been a Floor Supervisor in a Casino. Must demonstrate positive/enthusiastic approach to all assignments. Outstanding attendance/punctuality. Must be clean, well-groomed, and have a professional appearance. Attendance and punctuality are an essential function of the position.
