About The Position
As a Surgical Tech, you will be responsible for preparing the operating room and surgical team to successfully perform various surgical procedures. Your daily tasks will include setting up surgical equipment and instruments, assisting the surgical team, and maintaining a sterile environment. The role requires adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures, directly contributing to the patient's healing process.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program or an equivalent training program that has been reviewed and approved by the department director and VP of Patient Care Services, upon hire
- Certified Surgical Technologist, upon hire
- Unlicensed Assistive Person: ND, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
Responsibilities
- Prepare the procedure room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrate competence and understanding of sterile technique, sterilization, environmental controls and decontamination of instrument and equipment.
- Establish and maintain an organized sterile field and assure team members maintain the sterile environment.
- Assists the surgeon by providing visualization of the surgical wound and assists with wound closure and application of sterile dressings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to surgical procedures.
- Apply basic knowledge of instrumentation for each surgical service with advancement in years of service.
