About The Position

As a Surgical Tech, you will be responsible for preparing the operating room and surgical team to successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients. This involves setting up surgical equipment and instruments, assisting the surgical team, and ensuring a sterile environment. The role requires adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures, contributing directly to the patient's healing process.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program or an equivalent training program that has been reviewed and approved by the department director and VP of Patient Care Services, upon hire
  • Certified Surgical Technologist, upon hire
  • Unlicensed Assistive Person: ND, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the procedure room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrate competence and understanding of sterile technique, sterilization, environmental controls and decontamination of instrument and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain an organized sterile field and assure team members maintain the sterile environment.
  • Assists the surgeon by providing visualization of the surgical wound and assists with wound closure and application of sterile dressings.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to surgical procedures.
  • Apply basic knowledge of instrumentation for each surgical service with advancement in years of service.
