Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • CPR Certification (BLS Course C) from the American Heart Association (Required; restricted certification accepted).
  • Successful completion of General Hospital Orientation and specialty/subspecialty orientation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions accurately.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Commitment to patient safety and adherence to HIPAA and compliance standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a surgical setting (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily environmental cleaning of all operating rooms according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist with patient positioning, transfer, and transport as directed by clinical or medical staff.
  • Serve as a courier for transporting specimens, equipment, and supplies to and from hospital departments.
  • Retrieve necessary equipment for surgical cases and assist with room preparation.
  • Check proper function and safety of all equipment prior to use.
  • Assist in case setups with essential equipment and supplies as directed by the circulating nurse.
  • Transport operative specimens as directed by circulating or charge nurse.
  • Adhere to principles of sterile technique and universal precautions.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Utilize time effectively during low census periods for cleaning, restocking, and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in ongoing education, staff meetings, and specialty orientation programs.
