About The Position

The Surgical PA Service at Vassar Brothers Medical Center is expanding its subspecialty care and service to include Thoracic surgery, Urology, and Gyn-Oncology based coverage. This PA service is a hospital-based group that offers a supportive and team-based environment with a supportive environment for collaboration and learning.â¯Responsibilities will include OR coverage forâ¯cystoscopy with preoperative ureteral stent placement, DaVinci Robotic Thoracic, Urology and Gyn-Oncology cases, as well as management of admissions, consults, and post-op management of inpatients. This position is a great opportunity for growth and exposure to high acuity patients, and complex procedures.

Requirements

The qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and be NCCPA certified as well as possess strong surgical and patient management experience.

Nice To Haves

Candidates with at least one to three years of surgical experience and/or surgical residency trained candidates preferred, but new graduates will be strongly considered.

Responsibilities

OR First Assisting- Case coverage will include Urology based procedures such asâ¯cystoscopy with preoperative ureteral stent placement, DaVinci Robotic Surgery for Thoracic, Urology and Gyn-oncology.
Rounding- PA's will work in a team-based environment alongside other PA's and NP's to round on any in-house subspecialty patients.
Admissions/ Consults- PA will perform admissions and consults for patients in the emergency department and on the inpatient floors.
Floor Procedures- PA will assist in floor procedures including difficult foley insertions and chest tube insertion and removal.
