We offer career opportunities where you can contribute and grow. Our Surety department is currently seeking an underwriter in our commercial and small contract division. Surety bonding involves assessing the ability of one party to fulfill an obligation to another party according to the terms of a contract or statute. Many departments at our headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio, offer hybrid work options, empowering associates to work from home several days a week. Depending on your role and responsibilities, hybrid options may be available for those working at headquarters. Salary: The starting pay for this position is $65,000 annually. The pay determination is based on the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Requirements

  • the ability to interpret and analyze financial statements

  • proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred
  • a bachelor's degree from the business college with an emphasis in finance, accounting, or economics

Responsibilities

  • underwrite and process renewal bonds
  • review new and renewal submissions from our agents
  • determine acceptable risks and adequate pricing within authority levels
  • support underwriting decisions on all other accounts through file preparation and documentation by gathering information and analyzing and evaluating risk exposure
  • manage agency requests and communicate directly with the agency to gather needed information
  • research and gather needed information to be able to understand bond form questions and refer to underwriter and team leader when necessary
  • act as a resource for team production assistants and assist with processing work as needed
  • handle special projects and assignments as directed
