Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelors Degree in a related maintenance field is preferred.
  • 2-4 years supervisory experience required preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proven mechanical aptitude and related skills.
  • Effective project management skills, organizational skills, and leadership qualities.
  • Must be able to lead technicians through mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of complex machinery.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all areas of company and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to analyze and develop process improvements, including planning, scheduling, execution, and development of necessary documentation.
  • Proficient in applicable computer software including CMMs, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to identify, research, and make recommendations for improvements – equipment and/or processes.
  • Flexibility with work hours/capable of working any shift, as needed.
  • Must be able to understand mechanical part detail and assembly drawings, electrical schematics and process and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment
  • Must be able to pay close attention to details
  • Must be able to perform successfully under minimum supervision

Responsibilities

  • Display a positive attitude and strong work ethic that reflects the Mission and Core Values of SILFEX.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the SILFEX Quality Management System, SILFEX Manufacturing System (SMS) and all relevant Quality and Operating Procedures and apply properly as appropriate.
  • Meet with cross shift counterparts, team employees, Operations Managers/Supervisors on a daily basis at start and end of shift (effective communication skills) to communicate opportunities, issues, status of projects, and product flow, to ensure smooth transition of production activities across shifts.
  • Keep daily metrics up-to-date and use to drive improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and escalate issues that prevent the team from achieving goals/objectives as required to resolve issues beyond control of the team employees.
  • Encourage good performance, and motivate employees using appropriate feedback methods, including teaching, training, coaching and counseling.
  • Be an effective listener to fully understand the needs of the team.
  • Participate in gemba walks and metric review meetings.
  • Engage team employees to maximize benefit of stand up meetings.
  • Oversees technicians that repair and maintain the production, facilities, and test equipment.
  • Recruits, hires, trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
  • Oversee maintenance improvement projects.
  • Ensures that production equipment is maintained in a manner that meets company standards and ensures minimum equipment downtime.
  • Play a key role in specifying the requirement so new equipment and/or building additions/enhancements.
  • Perform and instruct maintenance department in equipment maintenance and strategies.
  • Schedules and maintains preventative maintenance programs, procedures and activities utilizing L2L.
  • Responsible for on time completion of maintenance PMs.
  • Improve the uptime of equipment and utilize downtime effectively.
  • Analyze equipment failures, determine cause(s) and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Develop and maintain a tool/parts management system to more efficiently assess needed parts and equipment, decreasing downtime by having essential parts readily available.
  • Oversee skill development of maintenance technicians.
  • Manages training programs to ensure proper operation, preventive maintenance, and repair programs and procedures, as well as training on new processes or equipment.
  • Help to coordinate the ordering and installation of new equipment.
  • Responsible for oversight of onsite contractors.
  • Perform tasks/duties related to special projects or assignments and perform other duties as assigned by department management.
  • Schedule and manage resources for maintenance techs, including vacations, holidays, etc.
  • Ensure proper documentation of facilities and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain building, facilities equipment, operations equipment and grounds.
  • Log repairs and expenses, keep maintenance spending within budget.
  • Research new technology, make recommendations, presentations and proposals, as assigned.
  • Create and maintain a culture where workplace safety is part of everything we do.
  • Provide the safest possible workplace to our employees by modeling and following all company safety policies, reporting any incidents or unsafe conditions immediately to Silfex management.
  • Wear all PPE as required by work area or job function.
  • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
  • Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping and 5S within work area.
  • Maintain these areas at the highest degree possible while responsibly escalating any maintenance issues.
