The University of Iowa Health Care department of Safety and Security is seeking a Security Supervisor for the Emergency Department. Their responsibility will be to provide leadership in the coordination and administration of the security staff within the Emergency Department. This will be accomplished by planning, organizing, directing, supporting, and evaluating all security staff within UI Health Care Emergency Department. This position will directly supervise the Hospital Security Officer Supervisors, Hospital Security Officers, and Safety and Security Clerks within the Emergency Department. This position will collaborate with ED administration and staff, dispatch, fire safety, nursing services, University police, and all other key stakeholders to enhance safety and security within the Emergency Department. They will monitor existing reporting tools to evaluate staff performance, scheduling, security, and safety. This Supervisor will support the Manager to ensure their security staff maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff within Emergency Department. Duties in the Emergency Department will include: Oversee all security operations to maintain a safe and secure environment. Manage, coordinate, and schedule the ED Safety and Security team. Develop, train, manage the performance, and provide support for all security staff. Direct report to Associate Directors and back-up to Security Manager for all shifts. Assist Human Resource staff with biweekly payroll, schedules, and hiring process. Administrator/controller and scheduler for time keeping/payroll system (ELMS). Administrative Supervisor for over 30 staff which includes officers, clerks, and temporary staff. Analyze data and information to improve services. Develop plans to meet compliance goals, patient/customer satisfaction expectations and quality of services provided. Collaborate with external agencies, and hospital departments to enhance the delivery of services. Develop improved and new strategies to resolve issues. Implements and trains staff on new screening technologies. Clearly communicate expectations and provide direction for your shift. Communicate with Security Manager and departmental leadership regarding daily operations and act as back-up when they are not present. Provide safety and security services for the hospital by patrolling the medical complex on foot, and via video surveillance. Respond to and assist in all escalated incidents regarding safety and security. Respond to and resolve all escalated emergencies. Conduct investigations and write investigative reports. Act as a liaison between staff, patients and visitors and University Police Officers when the need arises for filing of police report. Assist University Police in criminal investigations, collection of evidence, and victim or witness statements. Meet with representatives from hospital departments to discuss safety and security needs. Work with various staff to provide guidance on hospital policy as it pertains to safety and security. Support the work and strategic goals of Safety and Security. Ensure that security staff for your respective shift are compliant with UI policies and procedures. ED Oversight committee representative and other committees as assigned. Oversee all security needs of the Emergency Department, VMP, and Security Department. Identify training needs for staff assigned to the Emergency Department, VMP, and Security. Meet with different department administrations to coordinate training programs that are suggested to be implemented to staff through Human Resources. Lead Instructor for M.O.A.B. training. Management of Aggressive Behavior. Collaborate with UIPD for drills and trainings associated with crisis incidents, such as active shooter, bomb threats, and mass casualty drills. Contributes in scenario-based training. Updates policies for Safety and Security department. Implements new policies and procedures with direction from the security manager and director. All duties performed by Hospital Security Officers, Hospital Security Supervisors, and Security Manager. Designated as stand-in when shift supervisors or Manager are absent. ELMS scheduler for department. Provides weekly department schedules on spreadsheet. Provides briefs for Manager, Associate Directors, Director. Provide disciplinary action/investigation Provides new training material, i.e. Security Manual Involvement in high-level committees and workgroups as assigned.
