About The Position

The Supply Room Manager is responsible for the oversight, organization, and optimization of all indirect materials, including parts, spare parts, plant supplies, and office supplies. This role ensures inventory accuracy, efficient procurement practices, and uninterrupted operational support to production and maintenance. The Supply Room Manager owns indirect purchasing and inventory management processes and plays a key role in ERP implementation and ongoing system utilization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in inventory management, supply room operations, purchasing, or related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Experience with ERP or inventory management systems strongly preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain structured processes and systems.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and basic computer applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data and inventory handling.
  • Effective communication and coordination across departments.
  • Problem-solving mindset with focus on efficiency and cost control.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full ownership of supply room organization, layout, and material flow.
  • Ensure all inventory is properly stored, labeled, and easily accessible.
  • Establish and maintain accurate bin locations and inventory records in the ERP system.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control processes, including cycle counts and stock audits.
  • Ensure proper inventory rotation and minimize obsolete or excess stock.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized storage areas in compliance with company standards.
  • Manage purchasing of all indirect materials, including parts, spare parts, plant supplies, and office supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and establish reorder points to ensure availability while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Reduce emergency and rush orders through proactive planning and forecasting.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, standardization, and vendor consolidation.
  • Coordinate with vendors on orders, deliveries, discrepancies, returns, and replacements.
  • Develop and maintain a structured spare parts inventory program aligned with maintenance and production needs.
  • Partner with maintenance and operations to identify critical spares and appropriate stocking levels.
  • Ensure critical components are available to minimize downtime risk.
  • Serve as primary owner of indirect inventory and supply processes within the ERP system.
  • Ensure timely and accurate transaction processing (receipts, adjustments, transfers).
  • Support ERP implementation, process standardization, and ongoing system improvements.
  • Maintain accurate data to support reporting, forecasting, and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing Manager on vendor alignment and procurement strategies.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance teams to anticipate material needs.
  • Provide visibility into inventory status, shortages, and risks.
  • Provide direction and oversight to Supply Room Clerk(s).
  • Ensure daily tasks (receiving, stocking, distribution) are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures for supply room operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in inventory management and procurement processes.
