About The Position

This role involves managing all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality control, and shipping and receiving. The supervisor will lead efforts to meet product quality, cost, and on-time delivery requirements, and will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, coaching, and developing employees in collaboration with Human Resources. Key duties also include monitoring quality standards, conducting performance reviews, ensuring adherence to health and safety policies, controlling operating expenses, and analyzing production data for continuous improvement. The position requires organizing and performing routine and preventive maintenance on production equipment, and may involve performing tasks typically done by supervised workers.

Requirements

  • Over 7 years2 experience in key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs.
  • Proven team leader who possesses good listening and communication abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanically inclined
  • Ability to motivate people, plus assess and develop employee skills.
  • Previous experience/best practices using continuous improvement skills such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, etc. to drive improvement.
  • Good computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of plant operations including production, maintenance, quality control and shipping and receiving.
  • Lead efforts to develop and implement plans to meet or exceed requirements for product quality, cost and on-time delivery
  • Work with Human Resources to recruit, hire and coach employees, ensuring they are well trained to perform their duties effectively.
  • Monitor quality standards to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Conduct performance reviews and develop plant staff to ensure effective communication and teamwork across departments.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Control operating expenses, workforce management and capital assets.
  • Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Organize repairs and routine maintenance of production equipment, including preventive maintenance program.
  • Perform simple machine and equipment repairs and may be required to perform activities of workers supervised.
