About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive care to bariatric patients and their significant others. This position participates in the design and planning for a bariatric program and in the development of approved protocols for the medical and surgical management population in the CHI Health Division. Functions within the scope of practice for the licensed health care professional or registered dietician incumbent’s licensure and certification as defined by Nebraska/Iowa state law and licensure. A written integrated practice agreement between the APRN and the collaborating physician will define the provisions of healthcare to the bariatric patient population. Coordinates and participates in the development of care protocols policies and procedures for the medical and surgical management of bariatric patients. Coordinate with other departments and units to integrate care protocols within ancillary and support departments, Develops bariatric surgery program based on latest technologies, quality benchmarks and outcomes. Overseas ongoing bariatric surgery MBSAQIP Accredited Comprehensive Center compliance and ongoing multi- disciplinary team meetings for the bariatric surgery program. Assist team to attain optimum quality care and outcomes for patients. Develops with the team, process and outcome criteria to evaluate patient care and identify patterns in patient responses which indicate further evaluation/implementation (Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement). Provides teaching and serves as a resource for in-services, orientation and continuing education for nursing and non-nursing staff on bariatric patient care. Evaluates educational resources and develops patient educational materials and patient teaching plans.

Requirements

  • Masters Of Science Nurse Practitioner, Masters of Science in Nursing Degree, Registered Nurse, Registered Dietitian , upon hire or Bachelors Other in area of specialty, upon hire and Programs accredited by other credentialed bodies may be considered if program included formal externship
  • Experience minimum of 5 years, acute care, and clinical experience with experience in a bariatric program management, upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: NE, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
