About The Position

The Supervisor Security assists in the supervision of the security department for a shift. Schedules employees and assigns tasks. Goes on patrols as needed. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and direct the work of others. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

  • Experience - 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • 5 years of good driving experience: no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years and zero DUI convictions or reckless driving convictions; periodic motor vehicle/ driving record checks may be obtained throughout employment
  • Education - Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Training - None
  • Special Skills - Good computer skills, interpersonal & human relations skills and oral & written communication skills; good problem solving & critical thinking skills and time management/prioritization skills; good organizational skills
  • Licensure - Valid LA drivers license (or must obtain one within probationary employment period if coming from out of state)

Responsibilities

  • Persons/property are escorted to desired destination, when monies, documents or safety of person or property are of concern. Any person on grounds or building needing directions or information are assisted.
  • Security in-services either within the department or security's internal customers as requested are conducted.
  • All shift staff are rounded on no less than once a month submitting required documentation.
  • Internal customers are rounded on as assigned and required documentation is submitted.
  • Assists in the effective hiring and training process for department staff.
  • Assigns and monitors staff work and work schedules according to department policy.
  • Maintains appropriate data on employee attendance for payroll/ATM.
  • Maintains appropriate data on employee performance for counseling and performance review.
  • Addresses employee behavioral issues timely and effectively.
  • Demonstrates ability to coach and mentor staff.
  • Participates in/or completes performance review process in a timely and effective manner.
  • Pedestrian and traffic activity in assigned areas are observed; parking protocols are enforced consistent with policy; and directions are provided to visitors.
  • Potential hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances are investigated and reported to Dispatcher and/or Supervisor at time of occurrence, Appropriate actions are taken as needed to correct the issue.
  • The officer acted as a liaison to local law enforcement, assisting with any request made, ensuring the policies are being followed and appropriate action is taken.
  • Emergency Preparedness drills and evaluations are actively responded to, and areas of improvement are identified.
  • All assigned property is patrolled on an hourly schedule; Dispatch is called when the patrol is initiated and completed as well as during additional Patrol Request or any services performed during that time.
  • Alarms and service requests are responded to, and dispatch called and updated of situation within 10 minutes of call out.
  • Doors and windows of buildings in assigned area are checked, ensuring sensitive areas are secure, reporting to dispatch any found open or in need of repair.
  • All safety and security related policies and regulatory expectations are complied with and documented.
  • Security shift priorities are established by assigning zones/ posts or establishing additional patrol request as needed and assistance is provided.
  • Security Assessment, Risk assessment, or any other tool utilized in identifying security high risk areas or potential safety hazards are completed.
  • All reports generated by shift are completed and reviewed to ensure accuracy and completeness, submitting them to the Manager/Director.
  • Inspections assigned to are completed, documented noting any issues discovered.
  • All required departmental, organizational, or regulatory documentation is completed by the end of shift.
  • Badging/Access control, CCTV system and any other related programs/software is operated appropriately. (dispatch log, e-mail, Phone system).
  • Completed other duties as assigned.
  • Field Training is conducted for ALL new Officers in the policies and protocols of the Security Department is successfully completed and the required documentation proving officer competency is submitted by the due date to the manager within 5 days of completion and no later than 90 days of hire.
  • All officer initial competency, departmental orientation, annual competency, and officer evaluations are completed correctly as assigned.
