Requirements

Completion of high school diploma or equivalent
5 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, 2 of which should be in a leadership capacity
Analytical/problem solving ability necessary to participate in the development of department procedures and goals
Participate in the analyses of operational problem and proposals and direct inventory control
Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital personnel, communicate with vendors, and cooperate with the nursing and medical staffs
Supervisory skills necessary to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the activities of both professional and non-professional employees
Ability to work independently
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner to manage multiple projects
Personal computer skills
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required

Responsibilities

Oversee purchasing and inventory control to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce costs, and ensure DEA compliance for controlled substances.
Facilitate clear and consistent communication among departmental and hospital staff to support effective pharmacy operations.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies including JCAHO, FDA, DEA, and OSHA through regular monitoring and adherence to standards.
Supervise pharmacy personnel to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality pharmaceutical services in both centralized and decentralized settings.
Support recruitment, orientation, performance evaluation, and disciplinary processes in collaboration with the Pharmacy Director.
Stay current on industry trends and regulatory updates through education, professional engagement, and peer networking.
Provide training and competency assessments for pharmacy staff, while encouraging professional development and recognizing individual strengths.
Contribute to the creation and enforcement of departmental policies and procedures that support efficient, compliant operations.
Manage staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage, maintain patient safety, and adapt to fluctuations in workload.
Direct the preparation, packaging, and distribution of medications while identifying opportunities to improve quality and operational efficiency.
